  2. Get Margarine 150g but I use 120g
  3. Get Pinch salt

  7. Make ready 1 egg and another one for rubbing on the meat pie

The pie came out tasting almost exactly like the ones we used to make! I added a pinch more salt and a little allspice to the recipe, also a teaspoon of poultry seasoning along with the sage that this recipe called for. I have saved this recipe and will continue the old tradition of meat pies for Thanksgiving and New Years Eve. Some time ago, when I was working at a newspaper, a co-worker happened to bring a meat pie for lunch.

Steps to make Meat pie:
  1. I put the margarine in the fridge so it would be cold because the recipe i used said use cold butter.
  2. For the filling I boiled my meat then grind in food processor. - I then fried my onion in small oil add diced potatoes, carrot and pea fry a little bit add small water for the carrot and pea to soften.. Add meat fo the carrot mix,then add seasonings and spice of your choice.
  3. For dough - measure flour sieve,add baking powder, salt, nutmeg.
  4. Then cut the margarine inside the flour mix use your finger tip to mix flour and margarine till the mix become crumbly.
  5. Break egg mix then add to the mixture - Add cold water little by little to form the dough.
  6. The dough should not be watery and don't over work the dough.
  7. Allow dough to rest a bit then assemble. - Sprinkle flour on flat clean surface put dough. Roll dough flat but not extremely flat, cut round shape add the filling,then rub small egg with pastry brush round the edges of dough, fold the dough and press with fork.
  8. Continue cutting, filling and sealing until you have finished with the dough, then rub egg on top.
  9. Rub butter on tray put the meat pie then bake.

I have saved this recipe and will continue the old tradition of meat pies for Thanksgiving and New Years Eve.
